(Newbury Park, Ca) A nine-year-old elementary school student was grabbed Friday morning in Newbury Park by a man who tried to pull her into a white van. The victim was able to get away from the suspect and notified school officials when she arrived at Walnut Elementary School.
The victim was alone and riding her bicycle to school when the man tried to coax her into the van and then grabbed her leg. The girl was not injured, and she has been working with investigators to provide as much information about the suspect as possible.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man in his 30’s with brown hair, wearing aviator sunglasses and all black clothing and a mask on the lower part of his face. His pants were possibly stained with paint, and he wore black Nike shoes. The van had no windows on the side, but had square tinted windows on the back. The front windows also had dark tint on them. The victim described the van as square shaped, similar to a Chevy Astro van.
Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information about the suspect can contact Detective Sergeant Dan Hawes at (805)371-8392.
