Border Bar & Grill Mass Shooting: Names of victims released

(Thousand Oaks, Ca) Names of victims from the mass shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill have been released by Ventura County Duty Sheriff officials. Family members and friends have begun to share names and memories of loved ones online.

Cody Coffman was said to be the best big brother to his younger siblings.

On Friday, the Ventura County Medical Examiner released the following names:

  • Sergeant Ronald Helus, 54, Ventura County Sheriff’s office
  • Daniel Manrique, 33, Marine veteran
  • Noel Sparks, 21, Moorpark College
  • Alaina Housley, 18, Freshman at Pepperdine University
  • Blake Dingman, 21, (friend of Dunham below) alumni of Hillcrest Christian High School
  • Jacob Dunham, 21 (friend of Dingman above)
  • Mark Meza, 20, busboy at Borderline Bar & Grill
  • Sean Adler, 48, security at Borderline Bar & Grill
  • Justin Meek, 23, recent graduate of California Lutheran University
  • Cody Gifford-Coffman, 22, alumni of Adolfo Camarillo High School
  • Telemachus Orfanos, 27, survivor of the Las Vegas mass shooting and U.S. Navy veteran
  • Kristina Morisette, 20, hostess at Borderline Bar & Grill

California Lutheran University President, Chris Kimball, shared the following, “The Cal Lutheran community is filled with sorrow over the violent events that took place last night a few miles from campus in Thousand Oaks. Sadly, we have learned from the family that a recent graduate, Justin Meek, 23, is one of the precious lives cut short in this tragedy. Meek heroically saved lives in the incident.”

Cody Coffman, of Thousand Oaks, was also announced as one of the 11 victims. His father, Jason Coffman offered a tearful announcement about his son’s passing sharing how great a big brother Cody was. “Thank you everyone for letting me get out this morning to put his face on the news.” The elder Coffman explained that this is a painful time and that Cody was his first born and was so very loved.

Alaina Housley, a freshman at Pepperdine University, has also been announced as one of the victims. Pepperdine University released the following statement, ”

We are devastated to report that one of our students, Alaina Housley, was among those who passed away at Borderline in Thousand Oaks last night.

Our hearts are broken with the news of this profound loss. We offer our deepest condolences to the Housley family and ask that our community join us in keeping Alaina’s family, friends, and loved ones in their prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”

Housley is the niece of actress Tamera Mowry-Housley and uncle is former Fox News correspondent, Adam Housley. The actress, who is best known for her show “Sister, Sister” was pleading with the public to help find the 18-year-old before they learned of her death.
