Thousand Oaks Fire

(Thousand Oaks, Ca) Less than 24 hours after the mass shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill, Thousand Oaks residents are faced with yet another crisis as dry Santa Ana winds fan the flames of fires on multiple fronts around the city. So far, no fatalities have been reported.

The Woolsey fire is currently 0% contained while the Hilside fire is 15% contained. As of the most recent update from firefighters, 75,000 acres have burned.

On Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 2:04pm a brush fire ignited in the area of Hill Canyon in Santa Rosa Valley that is now referred to as “#hillside or #hillfire. On On the same day at 2:25pm, a Brush fire ignited in the area of Rocketdyne, south of the City of Simi Valley that is how referred to as #woolsey or #woolseyfire.

For residents needing updates from local leaders, people can text 313131 with the word “VCalert” to receive information. Residents are asked to heed the instructions by public safety leaders.

In addition, people can visit and can enter their address to see what alerts may apply to their location.

Two fires are being actively managed: #hillfire and #woolsey.
