(Camarillo, Ca) The City of Camarillo and American Legion Post 741 will host a Veterans Memorial Monument Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, November 10 starting at 10:00 a.m., at Constitution Park, 601 Carmen Drive, in Camarillo. Seating begins at 9:30 a.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this free event.
The concrete and granite monument will feature several brass plaques listing the names of 36 fallen service members from Camarillo, from WW II to the present. The plaques were donated by American Legion Post 741, and designed by Conejo Mountain Memorial Park.
This is the sixth and last event the City will hold as a Commemorative Partner in the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemoration program sponsored by the Department of Defense to honor Camarillo-area veterans who served during the Vietnam War period. One of the memorial plaques will honor fallen Vietnam soldiers.
The program will include a special certificate presentation to the families of those killed in action in the Vietnam War, a Memorial Bell Ceremony for all 36 fallen heroes, and a wreath-laying tribute.
After the dedication, guests are invited to enjoy refreshments in the park provided by the Pleasant Valley Lions Club. To get more information, contact Kathy Talley at (805) 388-5312 or ktalley@cityofcamarillo.org, or visit www.cityofcamarillo.org/dedication
