Tim Draper, Cal3 Sponsor, “Here is my statement. WTF?…” Tells California Voters in FB Post

Time Draper

(Silicon Valley, Ca) Cal 3 Sponsor and Silicon Valley Investor, Tim Draper, sent a post out through social media prompting those who want to see change in California to rise up and find the change they want in the beleaguered state.

So what is next?

Tim Draper social media post
On Monday, July 23, Time Draper sent a post out via his social media discussing what is next in his efforts to reform California with its myriad of social, legislative, education, and fiscal issues.

Draper has shared his dissatisfaction with California as to how it is failing its citizens

  • deteriorating quality of life
  • crumbling roads and bridges
  • underperforming education system
  • ballooning pension obligations for government workers
  • political cronyism, and
  • unfriendly policies that are driving businesses out of state.

Draper share that his solution, Cal3, was meant to start over with smaller states that can run more efficiently and with less bureaucracy. Greater competition would force governments to be more responsive to the needs of its citizens. He also shared that California would get six Senate seats and more political clout in Washington for the ~39 million people residing in the state.

Draper wrote:

“A lot of people are asking me what I am going to do next to help California out. The answer is, “I’m not sure what more I personally can do, but I am open to suggestion.” I have tried school vouchers and was beaten down by $100 million in teachers union spending to defeat it. I tried Innovate Your State, a non-profit that asked Californians for their best ideas to support, and I supported two of them financially. They have made some impact, but not the impact I had hoped for. I tried six Californias and was thwarted by the signature counters. And now, Cal3 (with almost double the signatures it needed) has been sabotaged by the California Supreme Court.

I am still hopeful that California can come around. I hope that the good people of California eventually get to choose. The state still has horrible k-12 education, still has horrible infrastructure, still ranks last in quality of life and last as a place to do business, and still has the highest taxes. If the insiders don’t want the people to vote to make it better, maybe they’ll do it themselves. I am ever hopeful.”

Draper has been on social media a hand full of time since the California State Supreme Court issued an order removing the initiative from the ballot. His immediate post on July 18 read,

Here is my statement. The California Supreme Court took Cal3.com off the ballot!! WTF?

Apparently, the insiders are in cahoots and the establishment doesn’t want to find out how many people don’t like the way California is being governed. They are afraid to know the answer as to whether we need a fresh start here in California.

It is a sad state that they have to resort to having 6 lawyers (who would probably have lost their jobs with Cal3) silence the 600,000 voters who signed the petition. And that tens of millions of voters won’t have a chance to make this decision.

The whole point of the initiative process was to be set up as a protection from a government that was no longer representing its people. Now that protection has been corrupted.

Whether you agree or not with this initiative, this is not the way democracies are supposed to work. This kind of corruption is what happens in third world countries.
